Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons Comes Out

On a weekly basis Jim Parsons plays nerdy Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, but it was a discussion about an old theater project with The New York Times that led to him admitting that he’s gay and is in a committed relationship.

Currently Parsons, 39, is on Broadway starring in the rare revival of the comedy “Harvey”, but the question about his sexuality came out when the discussion turned into how his role in 2011’s “The Normal Heart”, resonated with him. “The Normal Heart”, which is a revival of Larry Kramer’s HIV/AIDS drama is a project that Parsons related to, saying, “working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment.”

In the piece for New York Times, writer Patrick Healy writes after an interview with the actor, “Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship.” In addition, The National Enquirer reported that Jim Parsons and his partner, Spiewak were initially planning a Massachusetts Christmas wedding, which has since been called off due to Parsons not wanting children. This piece of information was never confirmed by Parsons representatives.

Although his sexuality has been speculated for years by the media, he never chose to come out publicly, but that changed in the discussion with the New York Times. Although Parsons partner isn’t named, the actor thanked Todd Spiewak during his Emmy acceptance speech. In addition he has shown up on red carpets and various events with Spiewak, which is reported to be an art director.
