Kelly Clarkson Ordered By Doctor To Cancel Tour Dates
Kelly Clarkson announced last week that she’ll have to cancel several upcoming tour dates due to orders from her doctor, and reassured her fans that she wouldn’t have agreed to the cancellations unless they were absolutely necessary.
The pregnant American Idol alum says doctors have told her she needs to rest her voice. Clarkson took to Twitter to apologize to fans on Friday, posting a list of the canceled shows with a notation saying all tickets would be refunded.
This is the eighth headlining tour for Clarkson since her successful turnout on season one of American Idol, but it’s possible she won’t be able to finish since she’s expecting her second child with husband Brandon Blackstock. After the birth of her daughter, Kelly had a scare after losing her voice and says she thought her career might have been at an end.
“Afterwards was the part where I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day. I was like, ‘Oh, God, I’m not going to be a singer anymore!’ I was bawling to my husband and like, completely hammered, just going, ‘Oh my God, it’s over, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess I could do more charity work.’ Like, I didn’t know what I was going to do,” Clarkson told Entertainment Tonight.
As for her second pregnancy, Kelly told People that her daughter, River, is such a perfect baby that she’s scared what kind of temperament the new baby could have.
“I feel like something horrible’s gonna come out of me. Because she’s so great — like, the yin to her yang,” Kelly said.

Kelly’s fans and family are holding onto hope that she recovers soon, and for the pop-country star, sometimes friends and family are one and the same. Her mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, spoke earlier this year about Clarkson’s song, “Piece By Piece,” saying she cries every time she listens to it.
“I cry every time I hear it because it is such a heartfelt emotional song, where she’s talking about River and Brandon. Brandon owns a big part of my heart. He’s my oldest son, and I’m so proud of Brandon and Kelly for being happy together,” Reba said.
