Ray J Released From Hospital Following Blood Clot Scare

Multiple sources are reporting singer Ray J has been released from a Las Vegas hospital following a scare about a “blood clot” that could have been “deadly.”

On Monday (May 21), Ray J, whose birth name is William Ray Norwood Jr., was admitted to a hospital in “sin city” after overextending himself during the Billboard Music Awards – at which he reportedly got into a verbal altercation with Whitney Houston’s family.

While original reports stated that Ray was being treated for exhaustion and jet lag, doctors investigated a much more serious ailment.

The 31-year old’s rep explained to Us Weekly:

“Ray J has been released from the hospital in Las Vegas and is back home in Los Angeles following an extensive battery of tests to make sure that he did not have a blood clot in his lungs, which is potentially a deadly condition that can occur following a long haul plane flight.”

Celebbuzz.com reminds us that this condition is the same one that took rapper Heavy D‘s life in 2011.

Per Ray J’s rep, the artist had flown to China — where he performed a concert and attended business meetings — over the weekend, then immediately booked a plane back to the U.S. on Sunday (a 32-hour round trip flight).

Upon landing, he then drove four hours to attend the 2012 Billboard Music awards show in Las Vegas.

Once he has recuperated from his crazy weekend, Ray J will no doubt get back to work on his fifth studio album Raydiation 2, which is slated to hit music shelves later this year.
