Chris Brown Granted Joint Custody Of Daughter

In terms of receiving verdicts, Chris Brown hasn’t really had much luck being on the other side of a courthouse. That said, Brown’s luck has changed, as a judge granted him joint custody of his daughter, Royalty.

On Friday, Brown was granted joint custody of his daughter in Houston. Although he does get to take Royalty home with him, he still needs to pay Royalty’s mother, Nia Guzman, $2,500 a month in child support. Initially Guzman insisted that Brown only have supervised visitation with their daughter, but the judge decided that this limitation was unnecessary.

Guzman made the move from Houston to Los Angeles after Brown begged her in a bid to be closer to their daughter. According to Hollywood Life, “At first, he wanted to move them to Los Angeles so they could be close and he could see Royalty on a daily basis, but he’s coming to realize that’s probably not best. Nia’s family is in Texas and her side of the family has been really instrumental in helping with Royalty and Chris knows that’s important.”

Nia and Chris were somewhat on friendly terms, until Guzman sought $15,000 a month in child support from Brown. Chris then went on to rant and rave on Twitter about the mother of his child. At the time he accused Guzman of using Royalty as a “meal ticket.”

“Some men my age run from their responsibility as fathers. I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets. Using a child as leverage is never ok. The highest praise to the men who actually want their kids.”

Anyone that has followed Chris Brown over the last two years knows that he often uses his social media accounts to speak about his own current events. Since learning that he was a father, he’s looked like a doting dad, posting videos and photos of he and his daughter hanging out whenever he can. During the summer, Chris had his daughter while he was on tour, and she was present on Father’s Day as well.

Back in July, Brown posted a black and white photo of his daughter and captioned it with, “Missing this little one. She can put a smile on my face when I’m sad she showers me with unconditional love.”

While Brown has also had trouble with ex-flame Karrueche Tran in the last year, sources told Hollywood Life that he’s only focused on Royalty.

“The only woman he can be faithful to is Royalty. That’s where his heart and soul lies. He knows who he is. He knows he loves women and knows he could have just about any one he wants.”
