‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 3 Spoilers: New Monsters, New Series Regulars, And More

With a new season of Sleepy Hollow comes new characters, new series regulars, and new threats for Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills – and a new job for the latter. In fact, it’s that new job of Abbie’s, as an FBI agent, that brings in one of the new characters.

In addition to previously announced Nikki Reed (playing Betsy Ross) and Shannyn Sossamon (playing Pandora), Lance Gross and Zach Appelman are new series regulars for Sleepy Hollow Season 3, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Appelman has already appeared on the show, as August Corbin’s son, Joe, and after everything that happened with the Wendigo business in Season 2, he is going to be working with Jenny “to look into his father’s work, which will be an asset to Crane & Abbie’s mission.”

Meanwhile, Gross will be playing Abbie’s new boss, FBI Special Agent in Charge Daniel Reynolds, who “quickly makes a name for himself at the bureau with tenacity and political savvy.” He is assigned to Sleepy Hollow, where he is reunited with Abbie after four years, according to Entertainment Weekly. Their time together as recruits at Quantico – before Abbie returned home – “led to a short but passionate affair.”

EW also dropped some teasers about three of the new monsters that will be seen in Sleepy Hollow Season 3, so get ready to see the show’s takes on Jack the Ripper, a tooth fairy, and undead soldiers with an unfinished mission.

“1. The show is taking on one of the greatest unsolved series of murders in modern history when an instrument of evil unleashes Jack the Ripper. 2. We’re going to meet The Abyzou, which is basically a tooth fairy — but not like one you’ve ever seen before — who has, unbeknownst to Crane, plagued his mission in both his lifetimes. 3. The undead rise in the form of Draugur, a battalion of undead British soldiers who return under the command of the demonic turncoat General Howe to finish the mission they started 240 years ago.”

As for what’s coming up for Abbie and Ichabod, TVLine has shared the Season 3 poster, which features the tagline, “Two heads are better than none,” showing them side by side. According to the new showrunner, Clifton Campbell, “the season 3 premiere, [‘I, Witness,’] is about the return of what we call the Second Tribulation has begun, and a return of the Witnesses to duty.”

As for what’s coming up for Ichabod Crane in Season 3, the year that has occurred since the Season 2 finale saw him head to England while Abbie changed jobs, and Campbell told TVLine he’s “back to his ancestral roots” and what he discovered has to do with “how often and in what configuration being a Witness has taken shape.”

Sleepy Hollow Season 3 premieres Thursday, October 1 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
