2nd Person Jumps Over Niagara Falls In Two Days, Probably Didn’t Survive This Time

Yesterday I reported about a man who jumped over Niagara Falls on the Canadian side and survived without the assistance of safety equipment, now authorities on the American side are reporting a second Niagara Falls jumper.

New York State Park Police are investing reports that a man may have committed suicide by jumping into the falls at approximately 10 a.m. this morning.

According to a witness it appeared at the time of the jump that the man was attempting to take his own life.

Police have confirmed with witnesses that the jumper was an adult male however they have not released any further details at this time.

The American side of the falls are actually more dangerous than the Canadian side because of sharp jagged rocks that are located almost everywhere along the falls watery surface. When asked if the man may have survived Lt. Clyd Doty said of the odds:

“The chances or no. But we’ve got to keep looking. We’re trying to keep our eyes on the water now.”

To search for the body police officers have been observing the rough waters of the falls from Prospect Point, the falls observation deck and other areas that can provide a vantage point of the waters surface.

The man who jumped over the Canadian side of Niagara Falls on Monday was rescued two hours after his jump, he had managed to climb onto a rocky surface and required immediate medical attention for life threatening injuries after being rescued. The Horseshoe Falls jumper became the fourth person to survive such a plunge without any protective device.
