Selena Gomez And Demi Lovato’s First Selfie Photo Since 2014 Is Undeniable Proof That They’re BFFs Again
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato took a hilarious selfie together on Thursday, showing undeniable proof that the two are back to being ‘besties’ again after their recent falling out last year. It was the first photo they took together since 2014.
The selfie photo was posted via Demi’s Instagram account, with a caption that says, “Look at how #coolforthesummer we are.. Friends for years, #sameoldlove”
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, both 24, have been close friends since they were seven. Both starred in the children’s TV show Barney and Friends. They remained close even after they ended their stints on the TV show and were kept busy with their own respective roles in separate shows on the Disney Channel.

Selena and Demi had their first falling out in 2010, the same year the latter entered rehab for eating disorder and self-harm issues. The friendship between Gomez and Lovato would be rekindled in 2013. That same year, the “Cool for the Summer” singer opened up about the state of her friendship with Selena in an interview with MTV News.
We’ve had periods of times when we grew apart, and we just didn’t really talk.
But now we’re in a place where we realize that life is so short, and that when you have people in your life that love you so much, then you should just always be around them.
In February 2014, Gomez and Lovato attended a charity gala organized by unite4:good. In her acceptance speech for the Young Visionary Award, Selena acknowledged Demi’s friendship.

In the summer of 2014, Demi Lovato stopped following Selena Gomez on all her social media accounts, suggesting that a bitter feud has sparked anew between the two. The same day of the “unfollow,” Demi tweeted a meme showing a photo of herself swimming. The caption went, “Swimming away, from your bullsh*t, bye b***h.” The tweet was reportedly taken down shortly.
As everyone knows, Demi has been unwavering in her support for Gomez during the latter’s relationship struggles with Justin Bieber at the time. Demi was also partly responsible for convincing Selena to undergo rehab in January. We don’t know for sure what caused the rift in their friendship back in 2014, but it probably had something to do with Bieber.
It looked like their friendship was severed for good until Demi started following Selena on Twitter again in August. On August 20, Selena wished Demi a Happy Birthday, proving that they’re at least good friends again.

Of course, in this day and age, a rekindled friendship isn’t considered valid without a BFF selfie, which Selena and Demi were kind enough to indulge us with!
This year looks to be an excellent year career-wise for Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato as both will release new albums in October. Selena’s Revival album will be released on October 9, while Demi’s Confident will be out on October 16.
