Liam Payne Hands ‘Homophobia’ Accusers A Slice Of Humble Pie

One Direction star Liam Payne has hit back at those who accused him of being homophobic in the best possible way. Just a few days ago it was reported in Inquisitr and elsewhere that Payne was being accused of being homophobic after he made a clumsy comment on stage during a One Direction show. Liam was clearly angered by the accusations at the time and he has now become the latest member of One Direction to stand proudly in support of the LGBT community.

The accusation of homophobia were made after comments that Payne made during a show last month. The Mirror reported that the criticism and accusation came after Payne introduced his favorite song during a show. Liam apologized to any fans he upset but fiercely denied being in any way homophobic.

“This is my favorite song off the last album, and it is about trying to find that number one woman of your life, which none of you can relate to, ’cause most of you are girls. Except for the boys in here, you know what I’m talking about.”

Yesterday it was reported in Inquisitr that Payne’s band-mate Harry Styles had shown his support for LGBT fans when he draped a rainbow flag over his shoulders and wore it as a cape during One Directions show in Buffalo, New York. Now Liam has made an even stronger show of support by agreeing to appear on the cover of gay magazine Attitude.

Yahoo! Celebrity announce that Liam is the first One Direction member to grace the cover of a gay magazine and the magazine is pretty excited about it. A spokesperson announced that they would be running the magazine with two collectible covers.

“It’s the first solo shoot and interview any of the members of One Direction have done, their first gay press shoot and I think the only magazine promo for their new album.”

Heatworld announced that Liam tweeted a link to a teaser video for the shoot several times yesterday. The issue that features Liam is out tomorrow, September 11, and features an interview with Payne in which he discusses his feeling about his LGBT fans, Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction and the bands future.

If Liam Payne was looking for a way to silence those who accused him of being homophobic, then this is surely the most emphatic way of doing so.
