Three Young Brothers Found Stabbed To Death In Car, Dad Identified As Suspect

At approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, a furniture store owner John Sorrentino spotted a suspicious SUV in the parking lot. When he approached the vehicle, he noticed a man sitting in the driver seat with blood smeared on his face, according to Los Angeles Times. But when Sorrentino got a closer look, he saw the bloodied scene of three boys in the backseat, who appeared to have been stabbed to death.

“I noticed a guy was all bloody as I walked up to the car. As I approached a little bit closer, I noticed a young boy on a passenger side rear seat crouched against the door, blood all over him, and his eyes were half open, and I looked to see if there was any kind of beat on his chest and there was nothing,” he said. “I yelled at the guy and he was breathing, but gasping. It didn’t look like an attack on him. Doors were closed. He had a box cutter.”

Sorrentino said one of the three brothers was just “staring straight out, almost like he was staring into my eyes.” After seeing the gruesome scene, he immediately ran back into his store and notified Los Angeles police. When they arrived at the scene, they rushed the bloodied driver to a local hospital, and he was later identified as Luis Fuentes, reported ABC 7.

Fuentes’ family also says that he was the father of all three boys – Luis, Juan and Alexander – who were found stabbed to death in the car. A knife was also found at the scene of the crime, and although police officials have yet to uncover a motive, Fuentes is the prime suspect in the death of his three children.

“These are horrific incidents,” LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said. “These are incidents that scar not only a community but the first responders who have to handle them. It’s a sad day in Los Angeles made only slightly better by the fact that we have a probable suspect in custody.”

After the children were found dead in the car, Michelle King released the following statement: “On behalf of Superintendent Ramon C. Cortines and all of Los Angeles Unified, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of the three District students who passed away as a result of a non-school related incident. The schools they attended have been notified, and crisis counselors have been provided.”

“They were angels, they were kids, but like I said I just hope God forgives him,” said Luis Chanquin, who is a relative. “I know God has a good place for these children up there where he’s at.”

An investigation is underway.
