‘Star Wars Battlefront’ Details Revealed: Drop Zone Mode

Star Wars Battlefront looks nothing short of epic. Some have even gone so far as to describe it as beautiful. The first details regarding the EA game have been revealed, and fans are reeling with excitement. It’s set in the Star Wars universe complete with incredible maps of Hoth and Endor. Players can navigate their way around the planets by air and land travel as they seek to conquer imperial storm troopers and other evil characters, or rebel fighters and other rebel scum.

The game can also be played in first or third-person point of view, and players can easily shift in and out of each at any time as they work their way to victory.

“Whether you’ll be playing Drop Zone on Tatooine, Hoth, Sullust, or Endor, a ton of work has been put in to map design from a gameplay perspective,” reports a blog post from EA Games.

One of the most exciting developments of the new game is Drop Zone mode. This essentially pits two teams of eight players each against each other as they fight for control of the pod. This is accomplished in a fashion similar to King of the Hill.

According to the blog post from EA Games, Drop Zone mode’s eight players are essential for getting the job done. It’s set on an action front as the team works to control drop pods that fall through the planet’s atmosphere onto the surface. Each team must fight each other for ultimate control. The winners are those that manage to control five pods at the same time, or else victory goes to whoever has the most pods in their possession at the end of 10 minutes.

This particular part of the Star Wars Battlefront game isn’t easy to beat. The makers of the game have worked hard to keep it both interesting and challenging. For example, if control of one pod is continually bouncing back and forth between teams, the game will send down another pod to help break up the tie. However, this presents another challenge because each team will then begin trying to control each pod. When the pods first hit the atmosphere, they hold much needed power-ups, which makes it difficult to give up a single pod to the enemy.

The game is meant to keep players in continuous motion, according to the blog post.

“We’re promoting the idea of a fast, action-packed game where you need to be mobile and think on your feet. Camping doesn’t really pay off,” lead level designer Dennis Brännval reports.

Star Wars Battlefront is set to debut on November 17, 2015 and will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
