Caitlyn Jenner Chats With Matt Lauer About Life As A Woman, Worries About Being Sentenced To Male Prison

In an exclusive morning interview with Matt Lauer of The Today Show, Caitlyn Jenner opened up about what life is like as a woman. She chatted with the TV news personality while the two played a game of golf at Woodland Hills Country Club outside of Los Angeles. The Olympic athlete, formerly known as Bruce, was, as she noted during the program, “the ultimate male.” The reality TV star, however, shares that she does not miss her former life as a man.

“I think about my life — and where I’m at in my life right now. What a tremendous experience this is. Hardly nobody gets to live two genders in their life.”

Vanity Fair was the first publication which revealed Jenner’s new appearance as a woman, and rightly pointed out that “few recent stories have gripped the public imagination as much as Bruce Jenner’s journey from Olympic icon to transgender woman.” The star of the E! series I Am Cait, expresses the amazing revelations and excitement that come with having lived as both a male and a female.

“Everybody wonders, ‘Oh, what’s it like to be coming from the other side? You know, their thinking, the way they act, everything?’ And here I have the opportunity to do that. And to be honest with you, everything’s so new and fun. From that standpoint, it’s been great.”

Caitlyn has struggled with her identity for years before taking the brave step to fully transition to the woman she has always felt that she was. Jenner used pertinent words to describe the peace she now feels when she wakes up every morning.

“There’s nothing more, nothing better in life to wake up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror and feel comfortable with yourself and who you are.”

In addition to sharing her feelings about her transgender journey so far, Jenner also spoke about a car crash she was involved in earlier this year, which claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman. The news site shares that “investigators are weighing a possible misdemeanor manslaughter charge against Jenner, who could face a year in a county jail if convicted.”

Caitlyn explained how much the fatality has weighed on her since the incident.

“I remember it happening. That’s about it. A tragedy like this, you’ll never get over it. You just learn to live with it the best you possibly can.”

If convicted, Jenner admits that she worries she may be sentenced to a male prison facility.

“That is the worst case scenario. I don’t know. We’ll see. The men’s county jail. It is an enormous problem that they would put trans-women in a men’s county jail.”
