Sofia Vergara And Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Tie For Highest-Paid TV Actress

Looks like Sofia Vergara isn’t the only highest-paid TV actress. According to Forbes, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is tied with Sofia Vergara. The two ladies lead the pack with $28.5 million, making the two actresses the top paid actresses of the year.

Sofia Vergara has been the highest-paid actress for four years now, thanks for her hit show Modern Family, but thanks to The Big Bang Theory being a hot property for CBS, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is right up there with the Hot Pursuit actress. The two banked the impressive $28.5 million between June 1, 2014, and June 1, 2015.

According to Forbes, Vergara didn’t make her money on Modern Family alone. Although Hot Pursuit, the buddy comedy with Reese Witherspoon, failed miserably at the box office, Sofia made major bank from endorsement deals with CoverGirl and another with Head and Shoulders. Additionally, she runs a talent management and marketing firm called Latin World Entertainment, which is a business that she founded well before she had success with Modern Family.

For Cuoco-Sweeting, it was huge news that she along with her castmates negotiated a contract for $1 million per episode, which was very reminiscent of the Friends cast. Kaley also dipped into endorsement deals, including Priceline.

Earning the third spot was Modern Family star and Emmy winner Julie Bowen, who raked in an impressive $12 million thanks to her deal at Bridgestone. A pair of TV sisters also made the list; Emily Deschanel from the FOX hit Bones made $6.5 million, while her younger sister Zooey Deschanel made $5 million thanks to the FOX hit New Girl. Completing the list of TV actresses are Pauley Perrette of CBS’ NCIS, who brought in $6 million, Robin Wright from the Netflix drama House of Cards made $5.5 million.

Forbes repeaters include Ellen Pompeo from Grey’s Anatomy, who made $10 million, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU ($11 million), and, last but not least, Emmy winner Julianna Margulies, who took home $11.5 million for The Good Wife and various endorsement deals.

That said, women still aren’t paid equal to their male co-workers. This exists in Hollywood as well, which is surprising since it’s known that celebrities take away tens of millions of dollars. In 2014, it was reported per the Sony leak that actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams made less money than Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper, even though they were both nominated for Academy Awards for the film American Hustle. The actors of the film made more money on the back-end deal after all was said and done.

As for Jennifer Lawrence, she took home $52 million for her big franchise films.
