USA soccer fans will want to watch live online Tuesday night as the United States national men’s soccer team faces one of its biggest tests of the year. The Americans welcome Brazil for an international friendly match that is likely to be anything but, and the USA team will attempt to beat one of the world’s most elite soccer nations for only the second time 18 tries.
To find out how to watch the Team USA vs. Brazil men’s soccer international friendly match live online, see the streaming information at the bottom of this article. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time, 5:15 p.m. Pacific, at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts — the stadium better known as the home of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.
The only time the USA ever beat Brazil came in February of 1998 in a CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal match at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The United States, behind a spectacular performance from goalkeeper Kasey Keller, kept a clean sheet and managed to hold on for a 1-0 victory.
While the stakes are not as high in Tueday’s friendly match against Brazil, Team USA will be looking to make a statement — coming off a shocking loss to Jamaica in the Gold Cup semifinals earlier this year — by halting a nine-game losing streak against Brazil.
The game is also the final tune-up for the USA team before October’s Confederations Cup playoff against Mexico, this year’s Gold Cup winner.
The prestigious Confederations Cup pits eight regional cup-winning nations against each other in a single competition. The 2017 Confederations Cup takes place in Russia in June of that year. Because CONCACAF holds its cup competition every two years rather than every four, in cases where two different teams win in successive years tournaments, they must meet in a qualifying playoff.
USA will be missing forward Clint Dempsey, who is still getting over a hamstring injury but is expected to be available for the Mexico playoff. World Cup hero goalkeeper Tim Howard has rejoined the squad, though Coach Jurgen Klinsmann is expected to stick with his current starter Brad Guzman, at least for the Brazil match.
