Katy Perry Sings About Divorce At Billboard Music Awards [Video]

Katy Perry is ready to move on from her divorce with Russell Brand. The singer, who has already stepped back into the dating game, sang her new single “Wide Awake” last night at the Billboard Music Awards about moving on from a bad relationship.

Perry, who recently went through a divorce with comedian Russell Brand, sings:

“I’m wide awake. I was in the dark, I was falling hard with an open heart. How did I read the stars so wrong? I was dreaming for so long. I wish I knew then what I know now. I wouldn’t dive in, I wouldn’t bow down.”

Perry and Brand divorced at the end of last year and the singer has done her best to move on. Last month at the Coachella Music Festival she started dating Florence + the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd. That relationship has reportedly ended but Perry isn’t getting hung up on the past.

Perry sings:

“Not losing any sleep, I picked up every piece and landed on my feet. Need nothing to complete my self. I am born again, outta the lion’s den. I don’t have to pretend. The story’s over now, the end.”

Perry performed the song while swinging through a cloud landscape at the Billboard Music Awards. The performance was visual appealing but the acrobatics definitely hindered Perry’s vocals.

Oh, and about Perry’s relationship with Ackroyd. A source told CTV that the relationship ended because it was impossible for the two stars to find time for each other. The source said:

“The main thing which led to her split with Russell was spending the majority of her marriage to him on tour and she said dating Rob felt like being with Russell all over again. It’s a shame as they both liked each other but Katy wants to be able to have a relationship with someone she isn’t constantly having to work out what time zone they’re in.”
