Victoria’s Secret Model Yfke Sturm In Coma Following Surfing Accident
Yfke Sturm, a Victoria’s Secret model, is in a coma after she was involved in a jet surf accident. The accident happened last week off the coast of Italy. Sturm was left with serious spinal cord injuries and her skull was fractured, according to Fox.
According to the Mirror, Sturm, 33, fell off of a motorized surfboard, and then she tried to swim back to shore. As Sturm was making her way to land, she was hit by the surf jet.
After Sturm was struck, she was taken to a hospital in Naple. Ever since arriving at the hospital, Sturm has remained in a coma. Unfortunately, Sturm is at risk of permanent paralysis, according to doctors at the hospital where she is being treated. As of right now, things don’t appear to be looking good for Sturm and she is still being treated by specialists.
A spokesperson for Next Model Management said that they couldn’t comment on the condition that Sturm was in, but they did confirm that the blonde model was injured. According to the Independent, the agency released a statement saying that they were shocked at the news and that their thoughts and prayers were with Sturm and her family. The agency also wished Sturm a quick recovery.
Sturm has worked with many major fashion labels, and some of them include Chanel, Calvin Klein, and Marc Jacobs. It was 1997 when a model agency scouted Sturm, who was born in Almere, Flevoland.
In 1997, Sturm won the International Elite Model Look Contest and after winning, her career took right off. Aside from modeling, Sturm has also ventured into television. She hosted the first two seasons of Holland’s Next Top Model, a reality show where contestants compete for their chance to become a model.
Yfke Sturm also runs Yfke 4 Kids, which is a charity that supports children who are affected by AIDS.
Prior to the accident, Sturm shared a photo of her newborn son on social media. Sturm wrote that she and her husband were excited for the arrival of their son, Alexander. Since the arrival of her son, Sturm has been quiet on social media. The model hasn’t posted anything on Facebook since her son’s arrival.
It’s thought that Sturm welcomed her son with Constance Jablonski, a 24-year-old supermodel who is from France. Before she became romantically involved with Jablonski, she was married to Imad Izemrane, a businessman, for three years.
