Apple’s iPad Pro Could Overshadow iPhone 6s And 6s Plus Announcement On Wednesday

Most of the hype for Apple’s event on Wednesday seems to be about the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. However, according to CNN Money, the iPhone may be overshadowed.

“Much bigger news for Apple’s business this week could be the long-rumored giant iPad.”

The article says that CEO Tim Cook has noted that the number of people who say they want to buy an iPad and still haven’t purchased one is large. Apple thinks a 12-inch iPad may do the trick, but the success of the product is not guaranteed. In any case, Apple is still building a completely redesigned keyboard in time for the release of the iPad Pro. MacRumors has the news.

“Last month, a new Apple Wireless Keyboard with Bluetooth 4.2 and a rechargeable lithium-on battery was discovered in filings with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. Images of an Apple Wireless Keyboard with backlit keys and a power button also briefly surfaced on the Apple Online Store in March.”

In addition to the new Bluetooth keyboard, 9to5Mac lists other information about Apple’s new tablet.

“Codenamed J99 and J98 internally, the new models will feature a larger, 2732 x 2048 display that is encased in a thin bezel similar to the designs of both the iPad mini and iPad Air. Said a source, ‘it literally looks like a big iPad.’ The device will have a similar aluminum back with curved edges, a FaceTime camera on the front, and an iSight camera on the rear.”

There are also several rumors that there will be an optional digital stylus one can purchase for the iPad. This would attract people who would normally buy a Surface Pro device. However, unlike the Surface Pro, the iPad Pro will most likely run iOS instead of a desktop version of OS X, which was originally rumored to power Apple’s new tablet.

Apple doesn’t have to worry much about sales for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, since the regular iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sold very well over the past year. However, sales for the iPad have been rapidly decreasing over the past year and a half. One of the reasons is because Apple has finally released a mini-tablet-sized smartphone and because those who want tablets want to be able to do everything they could on a desktop — that’s why the Surface Pro 3 is so popular.

We will most likely find out more about Apple’s new tablet on Wednesday. Which product are you most excited about — the iPhone 6s, the iPhone 6s Plus, or the iPad Pro?
