WWE News: Lana Injured At WWE Live Event — Will Miss Four Months

Popular WWE diva Lana injured her wrist while working out at a WWE live event this weekend and will miss nearly half a year of action, according to WWE.com.

Lana, 30, was training in the ring prior to WWE’s live event in Fairfax, Virginia, this past Sunday afternoon when the injury occurred. “The Ravishing Russian” has been noticeably more physically active on Monday Night RAW in recent weeks, leading many to believe she would eventually be making her in-ring debut. But those plans will be put on hold.

WWE’s senior ringside physician Dr. Scott Amann spoke to WWE.com about Lana’s injury.

“During a training session [Sunday] afternoon, Lana had sustained an injury in the ring. We attended to her and noticed that she had a deformity of her wrist. We obtained X-rays which showed a Colles’ fracture and [we put her] in a splint. Most of these Colles’ fractures do better surgically than non-surgically, especially in younger patients. Most likely this will require an operation, which will take her out of active competition for approximately four months.”

This injury comes at an inopportune time for the WWE and Lana. There have been rumblings that WWE was planning to make Lana the face of WWE’s divas division — in addition to her eventually beginning an in-ring career, as previously noted by the Inquisitr. She’s also an integral part of the current Rusev/Dolph Ziggler/Summer Rae feud on WWE television.

Starting on WWE television as the manager of the “Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, Lana quickly became a mainstay on television as she stood proudly next to her crushing machine. However, after Rusev suffered his first loss at WrestleMania 31, their on-screen relationship took a turn for the worst. Having had enough of Rusev’s mistreatment and vulgarity, Lana dumped Rusev.

Soon after, Lana sided with the “Show Off” Dolph Ziggler. Their on-screen relationship blossomed quickly, and both performers did their best to fend off Rusev and his latest blonde manager, Summer Rae.

However, Lana and Ziggler ran into their own problems last week on RAW when Summer Rae was seen leaving Ziggler’s locker room as he stood with a distraught look and almost no clothes on. The couple made an appearance on Miz TV this past Thursday night on SmackDown.

If Lana is out of action for four months, that would put her on track sometime in January. Also, considering her wrist is the injury, she can likely still be a regular on WWE television to continue the storyline after she has surgery. She would just not be able to be physically involved.

UPDATE: Lana has taken to social media to issue a statement regarding her wrist injury.
