With fall just around the corner, it’s time to think about a new wardrobe, as well as new clothes for all those holiday parties. It’s also time to think about weight loss for fall. Although there are many things you can do to lose weight that are effective, often the most common mistakes can sabotage weight loss efforts.
In U.S. News & World Report, weight loss experts gave the most common mistakes that clients make when they try to lose weight. The most common mistake clients made was not listening to their bodies. Florida-based registered dietitian Jaime Mass said that clients often miss the common cues that tell them what their bodies need in order to achieve weight loss as well as optimum health.
“Your body is always telling you something to help you live in balance. When we ignore our bodies, we set ourselves up for disaster. Focus on listening to your body and nourishing it well. When you are eating a meal, listen to your body and try to honor your body when it tells you, ‘Please stop eating, I am full now.’ When your body tells you, ‘I am hungry,’ honor that too, and go ahead and eat to nourish you.”
Other mistakes clients made that sabotaged their weight loss included not eating carbs or cutting out their favorite foods. Changing everything at once and eating diet foods also sabotaged their efforts as it made it more difficult to stick with what they were doing.
There are things you can do though that will make it easier to lose weight. As previously reported in Inquisitr, one simple tip is to drink water before meals. The latest scientific study showed that drinking 16 ounces of water 30 minutes before meals helped dieters lose 9.84 pounds.
People reported several weight loss hacks that can make it easier to lose weight. The first was to change the way you take the stairs. Instead of just taking the stairs, consider taking two stairs at a time. If you’re desk bound all day then consider taking a walk through the halls about every hour to get circulation going.
Another weight loss tactic that works is to do exercises during commercials. Having a dog helps too because it requires you to walk it every day. If you don’t have a dog, consider making a commitment to yourself to walk yourself every day instead. To make going to the gym easier, keep a bag packed with your workout clothes in your car as a reminder to go to the gym.
