Warning: the video below may be disturbing to some viewers.

A pregnant woman from northern Spain was killed in a tragic accident during a car rally. The victim, Ana Cayazzo, was due to give birth on Monday but went to a last minute race with her partner Miguel Caridad, an avid race fan. A race car lost control during the rally on a turn and careened into the crowd, killing six including Cayazzo, who was nearly 40 weeks pregnant, and her partner. Reports indicate that two pregnant women were killed in the accident along with a 13-year-old girl.

Horrifying video shows the moment the race car swerved into a crowd of people along the road, killing six and injuring 16.

The Daily Mail reports that Ana Cayazzo was heavily pregnant when she was persuaded by her partner Miguel Caridad to attend a rally the weekend before she was scheduled to give birth. Caridad was an avid race fan and asked Cayazzo to attend a race car rally with him just days before she was due to give birth to their child. The pair were watching the race from the side of the road when a race car lost control and swerved into the crowd.

Officials say Cayazzo and Miguel died instantly in the accident along with four others. Reports indicate that the accident resulted in the death of three women, two of which were reportedly pregnant, a 13-year-old girl and two men. Another 16 people, including numerous children, were sent to the hospital with injuries. The hospital notes that several of the injured are still listed in “extremely serious” condition.

Facebook photos of Ana and Miguel posted just before the horrifying race car tragedy show the happy couple standing next to each other as Miguel places his hands on Ana’s belly. Those close to the family note that Ana was due to give birth Monday, less than 48 hours from the time she was tragically killed.

Carral mayor Jose Fernandez Mouriño says that he has personally spoken with the driver of the race car that careened into the crowd, but notes that the driver, Sergio Tabeayo Sande, has no recollection of the accident. The mayor says police are investigating what went wrong in hopes of preventing further tragedy. Now the mayor notes Sande simply wants to “disappear” as he is completely devastated by the accident and the deaths of the race fans.

“What he wants to do is disappear. He’s absolutely devastated.”
