‘Dancing With The Stars’: Bindi Irwin And Nick Carter’s Weaknesses Revealed

Two of the top contestants on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars have weaknesses that their competition might be able to take advantage of.

BuddyTV speculates that the top four celebrity dancers on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars will be Nick Carter, Bindi Irwin, Alexa PenaVega, and Carlos PenaVega. The first husband-wife team competing on DWTS might go far in the competition because they can compare notes and practice their dance moves together. It also helps that Alexa and Carlos are paired with fan favorite dance pros Mark Ballas and Witney Carson. Meanwhile, Nick and Bindi are dealing with disadvantages that could ultimately cost them the mirrorball trophy.

Bindi Irwin definitely has the likability factor working for her — people loved her Crocodile Hunter daddy, and Bindi is a cute and bubbly ball of joy that seemingly inherited Steve Irwin’s positive attitude and zest for life. However, during an interview with ETonline, the 17-year-old revealed that she’s struggling with one aspect of competing on Dancing with the Stars.

“They said,”We’re going to put you in these heels,’ and I don’t think they realized that I had never worn heels before so I stood up and instantly fell down.”

Luckily, Bindi Irwin doesn’t give up easily, and her DWTS pro partner, Derek Hough, revealed that she’s a very quick learner.

“The improvement in a week has been remarkable,” Hough said. “But man she’s catching on quick. It’s like she’s had this dancer [lying] dormant inside of her body and now we’re revealing it. It’s awesome!”

If Bindi Irwin can manage to stay on her feet in those high heels, it sounds like she and Derek Hough will have a solid shot at winning this season of Dancing with the Stars. They’ll just have to Crocodile Rock their way into voters’ hearts.

At first glance, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter looks like season 21’s toughest competitor. He’ll make quite a few female fans feel nostalgic, and he comes from an era when boy band singers actually had to know how to dance. However, his DWTS pro partner, Sharna Burgess, recently told Niagara Frontier Publications that Nick Carter’s dance experience is actually making it tougher to teach him a new style of rocking his body right.

“He’s got dance talent, but we are discovering in our first few hours of rehearsal that, in some ways, it’s a little bit of a disadvantage,” Sharna said. “We need to get that hip-hop vibe kind of out of him, so we can get the ballroom technique.”

Luckily for Nick Carter, former boy banders always do well on Dancing with the Stars. As BuddyTV points out, 98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey won season 2 of the show. Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Joey McIntyre also helped prove that there are a lot of boy band fans watching DWTS by finishing in the top three during their respective seasons. However, it’s important to point out that Big Time Rush star Carlos PenaVega will also benefit from the boy band boost. He may prove to be very tough to beat.

Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars premieres September 14 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Will you be voting for Nick Carter or Bindi Irwin?
