Amy Duggar Wedding Day Is Here And Final Preparations Are Made On Dillon King Family Farm
Amy Duggar marries Dillon King today in a down-home, country-style wedding on the King family farm near Rogers, Arkansas, the site of their engagement. The celebration will include something for everyone, including a photo booth, a DJ, dancing, and an open bar. An array of soft drinks will be provided for teetotalers and children attending the festivities.
No rain is predicted today, but it will be a sizzling summer day in Northwest Arkansas with temperatures climbing to 91 degrees in the shade and humidity of 84 percent. The 300-acre farm belongs to Dillon King’s parents, Jeannine and Dan Mark King. It has a large pond which might see some swimmers before the night is over.
Dillon King chose a special spot on the farm to propose to Amy Duggar. On bended knee, Dillon popped the question on July 13 – one year after the couple met.
Amy announced the engagement on Instagram.
“He loves the Lord, he makes me laugh uncontrollably, he’s loyal, he’s patient, he’s my best friend! Of course I said yes!!”
The pair went back to the farm to do an engagement photo shoot for People magazine, which featured the couple in a mud fight.
Amy and Dillon set up a special website featuring another photo of the couple on the King farm. The website is password protected for wedding guests only, but the public can view the gift registry on the site.
The wedding invitations promise a security gate at the entrance to the farm and only invited guests will be allowed to enter. The wedding venue obviously holds a special place in the couple’s romance.
In an interview with People magazine on Thursday, Amy indicated that she is really looking forward to changing her last name.
“I can’t wait to change my name! It’s going to be a great day when Dillon signs that marriage license and my last name changes. You have no idea!”
Actually, this will be the third time the bride has changed her name. When Amy was born, her mother Deanna Duggar was unmarried, but Amy used her father’s last name Jordan. Amy’s mother married her father Terry Jordan on January 29, 2010. When Amy began her fledgling singing career in 2009, she changed the spelling of her last name to “Jordyn.”
When she began to appear on the reality TV show, 19 Kids and Counting, with her Aunt Michelle Duggar, Uncle Jim Bob Duggar, and the Duggar family of cousins, she began to use the last name Duggar. Her eagerness to change her last name now is due to the recent scandals involving the Duggar family and her cousin Josh Duggar in particular.
Amy Duggar was involved in her own scandal this summer when she, her mother Deanna Jordan, and her grandmother Mary Duggar were accused of not properly paying Amy’s Nashville singing agent. If those accusations are true, they could mean the death knell for an aspiring singer trying to break into the competitive business.
A week after the couple announced their engagement, the TLC network sent notice that it would not be filming the Duggar/King wedding and that Amy’s spinoff was cancelled, along with the 19 Kids and Counting series. An angry Dillon King asked fans to petition the network to change the decision not to film the wedding. That request fell on deaf ears. King then asked people to sign up for his YouTube channel for updates on the couple. Perhaps the wedding video will be posted there.
