Rob Kardashian’s Slow Social Media Return Continues As Focus Shifts To Weight Loss

Rob Kardashian, the notoriously reclusive only male child of Kardashian-Jenner family matriarch, Kris Jenner, returned to social media last week. Rob Kardashian’s most recent Instagram post appears to show him enjoying a night out with an unidentified woman and focuses on his impressive sleeve tattoo.

True to his family name, Rob Kardashian has posted several photos in the time since his return to social media that, while not as polished as the selfies older sister Kim Kardashian West is known for, prove that he has the patented Kardashian eye for style. But a different story has emerged from Rob Kardashian’s return from self-imposed seclusion: his weight loss.

E! Online reports that 28-year-old Rob Kardashian disappeared from the public eye more than a year ago. Rob reportedly flew to Italy to take part in Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding, but abruptly returned to Los Angeles. Despite rumors of a family feud, sources explained that Rob Kardashian was self-conscious about his recent 100-pound weight gain and didn’t want the media scrutiny that would surely go with his sister’s high-profile wedding.

“He wanted to be there, but he was feeling so insecure and didn’t want anyone to see him heavier like this. Kim and Kanye completely understand. They love Rob and only want him to be healthy and happy.”

After leaving the wedding, Rob Kardashian virtually disappeared from public life; his withdrawal was so complete that he ceased appearances on the family flagship reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Since Rob Kardashian withdrew from public appearances, rumors swirled that the only male Kardashian sibling struggled with significant weight gain, depression, and substance abuse, though it was unclear which issue came first and how connected the three issues were.

Kardashian staged a brief return to social media, where he likened Kim Kardashian West to a character from the film Gone Girl. Most outsiders viewed the comparison as unfavorable, though Kim did not comment on it. After the rise in media scrutiny, Rob Kardashian deleted his Instagram account and limited Twitter posts to retweets.

Recently, things seem to have turned around for Rob Kardashian. Kardashian addressed his weight gain through his Instagram account, blaming it at least partly on a love of milkshakes.

Rob Kardashian’s best friend and star of the upcoming reality show Dash Dolls, Malika Haqq, agreed that Kardashian had turned a corner. Haqq told E! Online that Rob Kardashian was doing well and had committed to working out and taking care of himself.

Even Rob’s older sister Kim Kardashian West has rallied behind him on social media. Apparently, Kim and Rob have become workout partners in recent weeks.
