Bollywood Music Composer Aadesh Shrivastava Dies Of Cancer A Day After His Birthday

Bollywood music composer and singer Aadesh Shrivastava, who was battling a relapsed cancer, passed away from the illness at a private hospital on Saturday. According to The Times of India, Shrivastava, 51, died at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after his condition worsened over the course of the past week. Aadesh was first diagnosed with cancer in 2011 after which he was on a long break from professional commitments. He soon returned to the industry and was seen attending events and working normally — until his cancer relapsed again. According to reports, he was suffering from multiple myeloma.

Aadesh Shrivastava was battling the illness for the past 40 days and was being administered chemotherapy by doctors. However, after he stopped responding to treatment, the procedure was stopped. This was the second time his cancer had relapsed.

Aadesh Shrivastava was married to actress-singer Vijayta Pandit who was constantly by his side until the time of his death. Vijayta Pandit is the sister of popular music composer brothers Jatin and Lalit. Jatin and Lalit Pandit were also frequent visitors to the hospital. Vijayta had, in an earlier interview, told reporters that Aadesh’s condition had worsened and that even doctors had given up hope.

Before being diagnosed with cancer, Aadesh was seen on several singing and reality TV shows as a judge and had, on several occasions, feuded with his contemporaries. He was also reportedly miffed with the industry after he was largely ignored by several of his friends following his absence from the music scene. He was, however, in constant touch with his friends including singer Sonu Nigam, composer Annu Malik, and Amitabh Bachchan. In fact, after news of his condition spread over the course of the past week, several celebrities thronged to the hospital where Aadesh was admitted.

Fans and friends came out on Twitter to express their sorrow after they heard of Shrivastava’s passing.

Aadesh Shrivastava is best known for his works in several hit films including Chalte Chalte, Baghban, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. His last project as a music composer was the recently released Welcome Back. In fact, Aadesh Passed away just hours after his last film was released — on September 4. Tragically, he also died just a day after his 51st birthday.
