Novak Djokovic And Super Fan Entertains With Funky Dance After U.S. Open Second-Round Win

Novak Djokovic is on a quest towards another U.S. Open title, but that doesn’t stop the pro tennis player from having a little bit of fun in between. He is known for joining in on a little dancing on court after a match and that is just what he did after his second round win over Andreas Haider-Maurer late Wednesday night, only he wasn’t alone. According to People, Novak did a Gangham-style jig with Cameron Hughes, aka professional fan and sports entertainer.

The world No. 1 was asked in the after-match interview if he had seen Hughes dancing in the stands in which Djokovic said that he hadn’t seen him, but he knows who he is. The man has been entertaining both fans and players for at least five years, according to Novak. He was then invited by the player himself to come down and do some dancing with him.

Hughes was stopped by a security guy on the way down to the tennis court, but he pointed at Novak as if to say, “Hey, I was invited by the guy!”

The dancing began as the two men did their best moves while swinging towels over their heads. They embraced in a big hug and then the super fan proceeded to put a t-shirt that said, “I Love New York,” over Novak’s head. Hughes, who was wearing the exact same shirt under his original one, basked in the glory of celebrating Novak Djokovic’s late night win in front of the world.

It was hilarious and added some relief to the midnight hour that was approaching. Many tennis fans waited quite late until the end of the match, and got a little entertainment in the process. Djokovic was happy to do it. He seems to be a “go with the flow” kind of guy and loves to joke around and have fun.

“I’m glad that he came down to the court. It was not planned. I’m happy for him. He’s a true entertainer. I know him for definitely five years. Each year I see him in one of my matches, dancing, taking down the layers of [his] T-shirts.”

Novak had some support from not only coach Boris Becker and his team, but a couple of familiar faces were in his player’s box as well. The Daily Mail mentioned that Jamie Foxx and One Direction’s Niall Horan were spotted cheering him on during the second round match.

Novak Djokovic faces Andreas Seppi from Italy on Friday as he looks towards another win on his way to being the 2015 U.S. Open men’s title winner.
