Kermit The Frog’s New Girlfriend Outrages Feminists

Kermit the Frog’s new girlfriend Denise has outraged feminists around the world. There are also many Miss Piggy fans who are still upset at the two breaking up, and find Denise a lesser version of the lovable character. This is all reported despite Kermit saying that he and Denise are not a couple.

Many Twitter users took to the social media site to complain about the new girlfriend. They claim that not only is she younger and thinner that Miss Piggy, but also much blander. National Review reports that feminists are angry over the new addition. One user said that Kermit obviously wants a woman like his ex, but without the same success.

Megan Carpentier went on to explain the problem. Denise is reportedly a representation of the 1980s’ audience, while Miss Piggy is a feminist icon. Miss Piggy is strong, independent and successful; everything a woman should not have been when the children’s show was created. To take a step back by creating Denise is a sad turn of events. Carpentier claims that it supports a man’s urge to date someone younger and “dumber” than their exes.

While many complained about Kermit the Frog’s new girlfriend, others decided to see if she was based on another celebrity. Many claim that Denise has a striking resemblance to The Tudors and Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer. Others have reported she looks very similar to Olivia Wilde. According to The Daily Mail, one Twitter user went as far to make Brad Pitt the frog, with Jennifer Aniston as Miss Piggy and Angelina Jolie as Denise. Despite that breakup happening 10 years ago, there are still Aniston fans upset at the way things happened.

The news of a new girlfriend sparked outrage, especially so soon after Kermit announced he and Miss Piggy were terminating their “romantic relationship.” It was a parody of the way Gwyneth Paltrow announced she and ex-husband Chris Martin were “consciously uncoupling” rather than divorcing. In the social media post, the lovable frog announced that the two would continue to work together, but would see other “people, pigs, frogs et al.”

Miss Piggy responded to the Facebook update with her own, making it clear that her own celebrity status was the reason for it. It was only “inevitable Kermit would drop down to the ground” while she remained in the heavens.

Kermit continues to deny that he and Denise are seeing each other, but that does not stop the anger from feminists over the producers’ decision.
