Bryan Cranston Series ‘Sneaky Pete’ Ordered By Amazon

Amazon has ordered Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston’s new TV series entitled Sneaky Pete. According to TV Line, the series was developed for CBS, but now that the network has passed on it, Amazon has scooped up the drama starring Giovanni Ribisi. Last month, Amazon allowed viewers of the streaming platform to watch the pilot. The show was deemed a hit.

Sneaky Pete chronicles Ribisi as a man who leaves prison and takes on his cellmate Pete’s identity in order to hide from his debtors, Deadline reports. “He moves in with Pete’s long-estranged, unsuspecting family and is roped into the family’s bail bond business. He’s a criminal taking down other criminals and, in the process, he’ll discover the family life he’s never had.”

Bryan Cranston has referred to the series as “Breaking Bad in reverse.” Adding, “It is about a bad guy who discovers reasons to become good.” As for the name of the series, Cranston inspired the title. The 59-year-old was nicknamed Sneaky Pete in high school because he “was always looking for the shortcut.”

The series features a cast ensemble of I Am Legend‘s Marin Ireland, veteran actress Margo Martindale of August: Osage County and Million Dollar Baby, Inside Man’s Peter Gerety, Libe Barer of Parenthood and Shane McRae of Forever. Cranston will guest star as well as serve as an executive producer alongside David Shore, the man behind House M.D. and Law & Order. Seth Gordon directed the drama that is co-production between Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures TV.

Breaking Bad fans are sure to tune in to the series. Cranston has been missed in TV land since fans said goodbye to his character Walter White in the AMC hit series last year. Cranston, who has sky rocketed into the spotlight, recently spoke about being famous, comparing it to being pregnant!

“Being [famous] is almost like being a pregnant woman. People think they can just put their hand on your belly and tell you, ‘Oh, you’re going to have a boy!’ It’s like having a complete stranger fondling you,” Bryan Cranston explained. “And they have this sensibility where they feel comfortable coming up to you and saying, ‘You know that thing you did? I didn’t like that movie.'”
