Rihanna Targeted By Anti-Fur Protesters At Perfume Launch In Brooklyn [Video]

Rihanna was the recent target of a group of anti-fur protesters.

Rihanna was visiting a Macy’s in Brooklyn, New York to launch her new perfume fragrance “RiRi” by Rihanna, when a group of angry anti-fur protesters crashed the party, carrying signs that were covered in insults aimed at the singer and chanting “Shame on Rihanna! Shame on Rihanna! Fifty dead animals – one fur coat.”

The footage, filmed by Their Turn, shows the protesters gathering into an angry mob. Rihanna’s security team is then seen stepping in to the remove the protesters from the building as they continue to yell “murderer.”

“The growing public awareness of the mistreatment of animals coupled with the void created by other social justice movements that have already peaked have enabled Animal Rights to emerge as the social justice movement of our time,” the organization’s website reads. “We must seize on the attention and interest to advocate for animals now.”

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has been attacked over her “questionable” fashion choices. In 2012, PETA labelled her and fellow singer Lady Gaga “freaks” for wearing clothing made of animal skin, Gossip Cop reports.

“Rihanna may not have a clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive,” the animal rights organization said at the time. “Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes her look even more out of touch. She and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that they are being laughed at.”
