Kevin Gates: Cops Investigate Kicking Incident

Kevin Gates, the famed rapper, is learning that it is not OK to brutally kick a fan, even if that fan touches your leg. According to TMZ, the Lakeland police department has decided to press criminal charges against Gates for simple battery. As seen in the video above, Kevin Gates was performing in front of a packed crowd. When a female fan made the decision to reach out and touch Gates on the leg, she quickly learned that it was a bad idea when Kevin responded with a swift and brutal kick to the chest.

Following the incident at the Kevin Gates concert, the Lakeland, Florida, police department found the evidence in the video above to be enough evidence to file charges. Now, the fate of Gates is up to the State Attorney’s office.

The woman involved in the incident who was kicked after touching Gates on the leg was kicked in the chest and taken to the emergency room as a result. By looking at the video above, it becomes overwhelmingly clear that Gates overreacted in the interaction. While the fan did, indeed, touch Kevin without his permission (which could be construed as simple battery, as well), the fan posed no imminent harm to Gates and was obviously not looking to cause harm.

According to FindLaw, simple battery in the state of Florida can hold up to one year in jail, 12 months of probation, and a $1,000 fine. While it’s doubtful that the $1,000 fine would be concerning to a famed rapper like Kevin Gates, it’s easy to imagine that that the possibility of a full year in jail may make Gates think twice before striking another fan, regardless of the situation at hand.

This isn’t the first time Gates has been caught putting his hands — or feet, for that matter — on female fans. As a matter of fact, just a couple of months ago, Kevin Gates was found in the midst of an altercation with two female fans during a show in Michigan. In that particular case, no charges were brought against Gates or the fans involved in the fight.

The fight in Michigan that included Gates and the two female fans was caused in an eerily similar way as the kicking incident that police have decided to charge Gates with. In the Michigan altercation, two female fans grabbed Kevin Gates’ arm when he responded with harsh words and a vicious attack.

So, the lesson to take away from all of this… Don’t touch Kevin when he’s performing, and if you do, be prepared for a reaction!
