Tia Mowry Leaving ‘The Game’

Tia Mowry has starred as Melanie Barnett Davis on BET’s “The Game” for the last six years, but the former child actor is now calling it quits. Mowry announced today that she would not be returning for another season of “The Game.”

Mowry wrote on Twitter:

“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun.”

CNN reports that “The Game” may be losing another integral character. Rumors have been circulating that Pooch Hall, who plays Mowry’s husband on the show, is also planning on leaving “The Game.” Hall has not made a formal announcement yet.

US Weekly reports that Mowry decided to leave the show in order to free up time to pursue other projects. For one, Mowry still has her show “Tia & Tamera” with her twin sister on the Style Network. Season two of “Tia & Tamera” premieres on June 11th.

With “The Game” off of her plate, Mowry will also have more time to focus on her family. The 33-year-old actress and her husband Cory Hardrict have a one-year-old son together. Mowry may also pursue a career as an author. She just released a pregnancy advice book, “Oh Baby,” earlier this week.
