Nicki Minaj And Miley Cyrus VMA Fight Scripted? Sources Say MTV Video Music Award Confrontation Was Authentic
Nicki Minaj unleashed an angry tirade against Miley Cyrus at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, leading to a fight between the two that had fans shocked and many wondering if it all was real.
After accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop Video at the VMAs, Minaj sent the show back to host Miley with some very strong words, Entertainment Weekly noted.
“And now, back to this b***h who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press: Miley, What’s good?”
The two had gotten into a bit of a tiff after Minaj grew angry for getting left out of the Video of the Year nominations, believing her video for “Anaconda” was unfairly targeted.
“If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” Nicki wrote on Twitter. “I’m not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much, but are rarely rewarded for it.”
Miley Cyrus told the New York Times that Nicki went about her criticism the wrong way.
“If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it,” Cyrus said. “And it’s not anger like, ‘Guys, I’m frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.’ You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA.'”
The MTV VMA tirade led to what appeared to be an on-stage standoff between Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj.
“We’re all in this industry,” Miley replied to Nicki’s call out. “We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate shit. Nicki, congratu-f***in-lations.”
When the camera panned back to Nicki Minaj, she appeared to mouth the word “B***h.”

To those who think the moment may have been a bit of scripted fighting from an award show notorious for its dramatic moments, many outlets, including Billboard, are reporting that the MTV Video Music Award fight between Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus was indeed authentic.
