Jennifer Lopez Tops Forbes 100 Celebrity List
The Forbes annual Celebrity 100 list hit the streets Wednesday and there has been a change at the top of the list. Jennifer Lopez tops the list for the first time in history displacing Lady Gaga.
Every year Forbes compiles a list of the top Celebrities in the world and ranks them according to pretax income and fame. Fame is defined by checking out how often a celebrity appears on television, movies and across the internet. For the last couple of years strength in social media is factored in.
Lopez was a no brainer to carry the torch this year, having a massive year in every category. She earned more than $52 million dollars this year as well as establishing her brand name all over the world in every measurable category.
Coming in a close second place is Oprah Winfrey. Oprah brought in a mind numbing $165 million dollars this year. she has also stayed in the spotlight with her OWN cable network. She doesn’t have the presence that Lopez commands in the spotlight but she is still the same powerhouse she has always been.
Pop sensation Justin Bieber came in at number 3 on the list, and he is only 18. He made $55 million dollars and has hundreds of millions of teen fans around the world.
Rihanna and Lady Gaga round out the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively, on Forbes’ 2012 list.
Other notable son the list were Kim and Khloe Kardashian who combined made $29 million dollars and are more commonly known in most American households than the family dog. Ashton Kutcher made the list for the first time ever. He had $24 million in earnings but a lot of negative press almost kept him at bay.
