Jessa Duggar And Ben Seewald Would Do Another Reality Show, Jessa Talks About Josh’s Cheating Scandal

Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald, aren’t ruling out a return to reality TV, and the former 19 Kids and Counting stars aren’t letting Josh Duggar’s cheating scandal scare them away from the spotlight.

On Saturday, Jessa Duggar spoke at the Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was her first public appearance since Josh Duggar admitted to cheating on his wife and suffering from an addiction to pornography, and PEOPLE was there to ask Jessa about how her family is coping with Josh’s latest scandal.

“You just have to keep your focus and trust God,” was all Jessa would say about the scandal.

Jessa Duggar is obviously very comfortable being in the public eye. The pregnant 22-year-old started appearing on TLC’s specials about the Duggar family almost a decade ago, and the family’s fame has helped her book numerous speaking gigs over the years. Jessa even made the difficult decision to appear on The Kelly File to talk about being sexually molested by her older brother. Now a new sex scandal involving Josh is making headlines, and Jessa had to know that she would be bombarded with more uncomfortable questions about her brother at the Southern Women’s Show. However, she didn’t cancel her appearance.

Because Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald really seem to enjoy being in the spotlight, it’s not surprising that the couple isn’t giving up on their reality TV career. Ben told PEOPLE that he and his wife are open to appearing on a new reality series, and the show he’s imagining only focuses on himself and Jessa, not the entire Duggar clan.

“We live a peaceful, quiet life, but I wouldn’t rule it out if people were interested in our family.”

Back in July, a source close to the Duggars revealed that there was talk about a spinoff focusing on Jessa and Jill Duggar. PEOPLE reports that their dad nixed the idea because he wouldn’t get to be on the show, but maybe Jessa will be willing to go against her father’s wishes if her husband says that he wants to. CNN Money reports that TLC is still open to working with some of the Duggar kids on a future spinoff, and such a show might not cause too much controversy if Josh Duggar and his parents aren’t involved with it. However, fans of 19 Kids and Counting might spend every episode of a Jessa Duggar spinoff wondering about what the rest of her family is up to.

Ben and Jessa probably won’t be able to get a new show up and running in time for the birth of Jessa’s first child. She’s due in November, and she revealed that she’s breaking a Duggar family tradition by opting not to have a gender reveal party before her baby is born — she’s keeping the baby’s sex a secret until she gives birth.

During her chat with PEOPLE, Jessa Duggar also dropped a hint that she, Ben Seewald, and Baby Seewald need a bigger house.

“Our house is tiny, the nursery will also be the guest room,” Jessa said. Perhaps Ben should have asked Jill Duggar for the keys to her mini-mansion while she’s on her long-term mission trip in El Salvador.
