One Direction’s Hiatus Has ‘X Factor’ Special Request

One Direction’s announcement that they are going to take a break from touring in 2016 has left many fans devastated. Despite the fact that they have promised to get back together in the future, One Direction has one last special request from Simon Cowell before they end 2015.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Simon Cowell has stated that One Direction does not really need to have any type of master plan in place for 2016. In fact, insiders close to One Direction have even said they just need to take time to be kids again.

However, before they go on their break, Simon Cowell said he wanted a favor from One Direction — and there is a twist.

Interestingly, Simon Cowell has had a lot to say about One Direction’s break up — and he partly blames himself for their need to take a break in the first place.

According to an August 27 report by UnReality TV, Simon Cowell “has admitted that he overworked the One Direction boys and that their grueling schedule is probably what’s led to the band’s decision to split next year.”

The Daily Mail backs up these claims with the following quotes from Simon Cowell on August 28.

“I hope [One Direction gets back together after the 2016 hiatus], but like I said, it’s not going to be because of any pressure from me… It really has to be, like we said in the beginning, this is an opportunity, you won it, and I’ve always had that attitude with them. They’re nice guys and they’re loyal so it’ll be fine… Having a year off is going to be a healthy thing.”

Regardless, before they go on their well-deserved hiatus, Simon Cowell still wants them to do one more thing — and it involves going back to where One Direction began.

On August 29, the Mirror reports that Simon Cowell requested One Direction’s last show to be part of the X Factor season finale and states the following.

“Speaking about their final show before they pursue their own projects, X Factor boss Simon said he wants them to perform on the ITV talent show. The music mogul said: ‘I would like their last performance before their break to be the X Factor final, 100-percent. I think they will come on the final of X Factor this year.'”

Digital Spy reports on August 26 that the approximate date of the X Factor U.K. finale that may feature One Direction’s last performance is December 13.

But will Zayn Malik be part of One Direction’s finale on X Factor? According to a report by Yahoo Celeb U.K. on August 26, Simon Cowell said, “I’m not in touch with Zayn. Once we’d made the decision that he was going to be on a different part of Sony, which is good for him, my responsibility was obviously the guys and their next record.”
