Carlos PenaVega Makes ‘Dancing With The Stars’ History As Boy Bander & Alexa Become 1st Married DWTS Duo: Cast Update! [Video]

Carlos PenaVega and his wife, Alexa PenaVega, just became the newest celebrities to join Season 21 of Dancing With The Stars. Carlos just might have a leg up on the DWTS competition, however. PenaVega’s former boy band buddy from Big Time Rush, James Maslow, took fourth during Season 18, reported ABC News.

What’s the best possible way to celebrate the news that you’ll be on Dancing With The Stars? If you’re Alexa and Carlos, it’s straight to Disneyland, posted PenaVega on social media.

“Beyond excited that @vegaalexa and I are going to be competing this season on #season21 @dancingabc,” he shared. “Spending 24 hours at @disneyland #disneyland60 to celebrate!!!”

Carlos is 26, while his wife is 27. She’s known for acting in Spy Kids, while PenaVega earned his claim to fame primarily through singing. They were engaged for four months before getting married last year.

What’s significant about the choice of Carlos and Alexa is that they will have to battle each other for the mirror ball trophy, because each is a separate contestant.

And here are the newest announcements of who is officially on the next season of Dancing With The Stars. Those challenging the PenaVega couple include Bindi Irwin, Victor Espinoza, Nick Carter, and Hayes Grier.

While Carlos and Alexa make history by competing against each other, the other confirmed celebrity contestants for Dancing With the Stars also are eager to get started to trounce the PeneVegas, reported the Daily Mail.

And even though the boy band singer and his actress wife are contenders for the same prize, they showed their love by showing up at the DWTS rehearsal as a couple.

While the official and final line-up of celebrities for Season 21 has not been confirmed by ABC, several other Dancing With The Stars cast members took in rehearsals on Friday.

At 17, the daughter of deceased Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, Bindi, is determined to use her nature survival skills to conquer the others.

Bindi also was present at one of the first rehearsals for the upcoming DWTS season, as was Hayes Grier.

He may be younger than Bindi at 15, but Hayes is already an expert at the fame game, thanks to his savvy with YouTube and Vine.

Putting the amateur dance stars through the paces are the pros, including Witney Carson, Emma Slater, Sharna Burgess, and Val Chmerkovskiy.

As the Inquisitr reported, rumors on which other celebrities would participate on DWTS Season 21 ranged from Caitlyn Jenner to Demi Moore. ABC will unveil all the celebrities to compete on Good Morning America‘s September 2 episode, and the new season of Dancing With The Stars will debut September 14 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
