Ed Sheeran’s Role In ‘Home And Away’ Revealed With Teaser Debuting Online [Video]

Ed Sheeran is all set to make his acting debut soon with the teaser of Australian soap Home and Away having been released online, according to reports emerging in the media.

The singer-songwriter shot for Home and Away during an album tour to the country in March this year, and now his appearance is set to air in Australia. According to the Guardian, Ed Sheeran will don the role of Teddy, one of the children Emily Symons’ character, Marilyn Chambers, played nanny to in the show.

In an intriguing case of cross-references, a grown-up Teddy visits Summer Bay, where to everyone’s complete surprise, he turns out to be a chart-topping singer. Ed Sheeran’s character then goes on to treat the assembled audience to a special performance in the diner.

Earlier, speaking BBC News about his role in the show, Ed Sheeran had expressed his excitement about his acting debut in Australia.

“It’s an Australian institution. It’s always on in my local chip shop. I got asked to do it and it sounded like it could be fun. I did Shortland Street in New Zealand as well and I’m sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well.”

Alec Snow, who plays a prominent character Matt Page in Home and Away, recalled how thrilled the whole crew was during the day of the shoot with Ed Sheeran.

“It was an awesome experience filming with Ed as he seemed like a really down-to-earth, nice guy that genuinely wanted to be there. It was funny seeing how starstruck everyone was both on set and off set. It was quite entertaining seeing the effect he had on everyone around him.”

Well, it surely would have been a good day in the office for Ed Sheeran’s fans.

With his role in the long-running soap, Ed Sheeran becomes the first international celebrity to ever appear on Home and Away, and the biggest musician since Australian pop-star John Farnham made a cameo in the late 1980s.

Meanwhile, this cameo appearance is not the last we will see of Ed Sheeran in front of the camera. He has already revealed his plans to appear in Kurt Sutter’s medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, which premieres on FOX in September this year.
