J.K. Rowling Devastates ‘Harry Potter’ Fan With Hagrid News
J.K. Rowling has devastated a Harry Potter fan who had a simple question about Hagrid. She took to Twitter to share the answer, where she answers a number of questions on a daily basis. Being active has helped to keep the world of the boy wizard alive after all these years. However, some fans may not have wanted to hear the answer to the recent question.
One fan asked what Hagrid’s petronus would have been. This is the spell commonly used to defeat the Death Eaters, and took Harry a whole book to master to the point where he could get rid of a large number of Death Eaters attacking his past self and godfather Sirius in the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Hagrid couldn’t produce a Patronus. It’s a very difficult spell. https://t.co/TRDVNvSEdR

According to Rowling, Hagrid would not have been able to perform the petronus spell. She never went into any other detail, but there are a few theories why that happened. Metro makes it very clear that the spell was a difficult one to master, and Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts, so did not likely master it. There was never proof that every single student would master this spell, anyway. The “Boy Who Lived” taught a number of his friends, knowing that it would help them in the future.
The Daily Mirror went on to explain the reason why this is devastating news for Harry Potter fans. The petronus was a spell that required the caster to lock onto the happiest and most positive feelings ever experienced. If Hagrid could not produce a petronus, it could mean that he did not have a positive feeling strong enough to focus on.
Hagrid did not have the easiest life. He was abandoned as a baby by his mother, and later expelled from Hogwarts for something he did not do. During his third year at school, his father died, which he admits was one of his saddest memories.
There were certainly things that Hagrid could do that put smiles on readers faces. He was also a lovable character, and great friend to Harry, Ron, and Hermionie. It seems sad that he should never be able to focus on a positive memory enough to be able to cast this powerful spell.
Rowling has not commented on why the half giant/half human cannot create a petronus. She just said that it was a difficult spell, and has left a lot of questions for others Harry Potter fans to ask.
