Square Enix Is Giving Away An Island In Latest ‘Just Cause 3’ Promotion

Just Cause 3 seems to be a game that is likely to garner a lot of attention from fans, both of the series and new players alike. Square Enix, the publisher of Just Cause 3, is upping the ante for anyone looking to score some great pre-order bonuses or prizes by giving away an island to the winner.

Yes, an entire island.

The new promotion, aptly titled “Win an Island,” gives players who pre-order Just Cause 3 a chance to win their very own private island. The rules, via the contest website, are actually pretty simple: players who pre-order the “Day 1 Edition” of Just Cause 3 are eligible for the contest. If you have the highest “Chaos Score” 90 days after Just Cause 3’s launch, you win the island. The offer is only for players who pre-order and have the “Day 1 Edition” of Just Cause 3 on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, so PC users who preordered the game are not considered for this promotion.

However, as with all major sweepstakes, there is a catch: If you are the lucky one to win the Just Cause 3 island, you are responsible for taxes/duties, and any other fees associated with the island, per the official Just Cause 3“Win an Island” fine print.

“All taxes and fees associated with purchasing and obtaining of Island (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, escrow, and closing costs) are the responsibility of the Winner. Sponsor does not guarantee the Island to be inhabitable, developed or reachable by any means other than a boat.”

Square Enix also has in the fine print that they have the right to substitute the Island grand prize for something else, if they so choose.

The winner has the option to just take a $50,000 cash prize, which given the above, seems like less of a headache. However, if you have a boat and would like a (potentially) uninhabited island, the best way to get one would be through this Just Cause 3 promotion. The Just Cause 3 Island is the most recent over the top, but not the only one. Techland’s Dying Light offered a version of the game giving players their very own “Zombie-proof” shelter. The version of the game would set players back $387,000. Not a private island, but something.

Just Cause 3 releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on December 1, so players looking to get their own island have time to pre-order the Day 1 Edition on console. The contest ends in March, giving players plenty of time to accumulate the chaos points needed in Just Cause 3 to win their own Island, fifty grand, or whatever else Square Enix decides.
