WWE News: Roman Reigns And Dean Ambrose To Go After WWE Tag Team Championships

As we saw last night at WWE SummerSlam, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose took on The Wyatt Family’s Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. The match went as everyone expected. It was hard hitting, and everyone beat up on each other. It was a fun match that saw the Shield guys going over, which is actually a first for them. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose have never defeated the Wyatt Family in tag team action even dating back to The Shield days.

The team of Reigns and Ambrose were impressive, and no one can dispute that they work well together. WWE has now started to tease that the two of them, along with the Wyatt Family, may go after the WWE Tag Team Championships that The New Day now holds. New Day won the tag titles back last night in a big fatal four-way tag match. It is their second reign as tag team champions, but, of course, Kofi Kingston’s 100th tag team title, as he has seemingly held one with everyone.

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose make a lot of sense for this. Neither are doing anything of significant value, and it would allow them to work a story and build up together. It would give Ambrose a role that he would have every week, something WWE has seemingly never been able to do for him. Reigns gets a lot out of it as well, as he would earn his way back up in fan’s eyes. He’d also work with Ambrose a lot, so fans would be behind the two winning with helps Roman with fans as well.

Really, it’s a great idea for them to take the tag titles.

Roman Reigns has been a WWE Tag Team Champion in the past, when he held the titles with Seth Rollins while the two were in The Shield together.

Reigns knows how to work as a tag team. Of course, Ambrose and Reigns teamed together so often during The Shield days that they are probably one of the most experienced tag team going right now when it comes to working with their tag partner. The Shield formed in late 2012 and ended in mid-2014 when Rollins betrayed his Shield brethren to side with The Authority. Ambrose and Reigns have paired up or worked together off and on since the end of the faction.

Few teams can say they have three years of experience with a partner. That takes a lot of time to build.

To play devil’s advocate in all of this as well, once they two of them do win the WWE Tag Titles, it will allow us to see their friendship grow a lot. Once they lose them, one could imagine that WWE might have one of them turn on the other, which could result in a much-needed heel turn for one certain Samoan. We shall see what WWE has planned, however.
