Wiz Khalifa Detained After Refusing To Dismount Hoverboard At LAX [Video]

Apparently, riding on a hoverboard at the Los Angeles International Airport is a big no no — just ask Wiz Khalifa.

The 27-year-old rapper was reportedly detained at the airport after he failed to dismount his “Back to the Future”-esque hoverboard, according to CNN.

While not many details have been release regarding the incident, Wiz posted a video on Twitter, sharing footage of his arrest.

“All because I didn’t want to ditch the technogy everyone will be using in the next 6 months. Do what you want kids,” he captioned the video.

Khalifa also shared a photo of the police officers holding him down on the floor to place the handcuffs on him. “Haven’t been slammed and cuffed in a while. That was fun,” he said of the officers. “They love sayin stop resisting.”

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a vague statement to CNN when asked about the incident, saying that they strive to treat all of their travelers with respect.

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strives to treat all travelers with respect and in a professional manner, while maintaining the focus of our mission to protect all citizens and visitors in the United States,” the statement read.

“All travelers arriving into the U.S. are subject to CBP inspection, and for their own safety and the safety of other passengers, must follow officers’ instructions while in the Federal Inspection Service area. CBP officers are conducting their critical national security mission while facilitating the entry of legitimate travelers. An uncompliant passenger or any disruptive behavior could put many at risk in this highly secure area.”

According to gossip site TMZ, Wiz Khalifa’s detainment was only because he failed to appropriately respond to the officer’s request that he dismount his hoverboard. After refusing to comply, they made the decision to cuff him. However, a law enforcement source said he was eventually released after apologizing and he will not be facing any charges.

Hoverboards are apparently the newest fad, and have only been on the market for a short time. Lexus has teased the idea of a Slide hoverboard which would involve magnets and superconductors that would be cooled by liquid nitrogen.
