Vanessa Hudgens has revealed that her father is battling Stage 4 cancer. According to ABC News, Hudgens opened up about her dad's illness while accepting the award for Breakthrough Performer at the 2015 Industry Dance Awards in Los Angeles last week. While she didn't go into too much detail, Vanessa Hudgens dedicated her award to her dad, and to her boyfriend's mom, Lori, who died from cancer last year.
Hudgens got emotional during her acceptance speech.
"Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage-four cancer. And let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being. This award, it means a lot to me but I dedicate it to my boyfriend's mom … Lori, my dad, and to all the families out there who are struggling with this."In other Vanessa Hudgens news, the High School Musical actress seems really in love with Austin Butler, whom she has been dating since 2011. According to FOX 411, Hudgens was asked about her ex-boyfriend, Zac Efron, while at the Industry Dance Awards, but she totally dodged the question. When asked if she and Zac had talked recently, Hudgens simply said "next question" with a bit of nervous laughter.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Hudgens' filming schedule seems a bit laid back these days, likely giving her some extra time to spend with her dad. She recently finished work on the film Kitchen Sink and will soon be working on Grease: Live.
Hudgens has remained positive, and her fans have been nothing but supportive since Hudgens revealed the news."My mom passed away this year because of lung cancer. It was really hard to see my own mom suffering like that cuz I know she doesn't deserve it but you know, we gotta stay strong and give it all to God for He has plans. I'm truly praying for your dad's full [recovery]. Stay strong and have faith," wrote one Instagram user.
"I never understood cancer. Or if stage four means terminal or what. But I'm praying for your dad to have a painless recovery. He looks like a nice man whom doesn't deserve this," wrote another.
"Pray strong, Vanessa. My prayers are with you and your family. I love you, Baby V," added another.
Many hope that Vanessa Hudgens' dad can pull through.
