Diana, Princess Of Wales Meets Granddaughter Charlotte In Photo

Despite dying 18 years ago, Diana, Princess of Wales, recently got the chance to meet her granddaughter, Princess Charlotte. Technology today has made it possible for users to seamlessly place an image of the late royal into an image of Kate Middleton holding the baby. The image has sparked debate across the Internet, as many determine whether it is tasteful or disrespectful of the woman’s memory.

The image of Kate and Charlotte used was from the christening last month. The Duchess of Cambridge looks down on her daughter in her arms, with a smile on her face. The image of Princess Diana is one from when she met Mother Teresa in 1997, shortly before her death. Coloring has been changed on the most recent image to match that of the older image, making it look like Diana is really meeting Charlotte.

Woman’s Day reports that the name of the graphic artist is unknown. Mary Kohnke shared the image, commenting how great the photoshopping was, and she wanted to make it go viral. It certainly went viral, but not everyone is as happy or impressed seeing it.

Diana, Princess of Wales has regularly been mentioned when the media speak about Prince William and his wife. There have been many nods to the “people’s princess,” including the use of her engagement ring and the location of Princess Charlotte’s christening. In fact, before the birth of Prince George, many expected the baby to be a girl and expected her to be named after Diana. One of Charlotte’s middle names is after her late grandmother.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also currently reside at Sandringham, where Diana spent a lot of time in her youth. It is clear that William wants to keep his mother’s memory alive every way he can.

The debate continues over whether the photoshopped image was the right thing to do or not. The Huffington Post reports that a number of Facebook users commented on the photo to say that it was “morbid” and “creepy.” Some users go as far as saying that the image is not respectful, even though they believe that the Princess of Wales is looking down on her family. However, the majority of users are extremely happy. There are many “what ifs” in history, and this one has come to life thanks to technology advancements.

Kensington Palace is yet to release an official comment on the doctored photo of Diana, Princess of Wales meeting her granddaughter.
