Dalai Lama Reveals Chinese Plot To Kill Him

The Dalai Lama recently reported that authorities warned him of a threat against his life, reportedly thought up by the Chinese.

According to USA Today, the 76-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner told the paper that:

“We received some sort of information from Tibet. Some Chinese agents training some Tibetans, especially women, you see, using poison – the hair poisoned, and the scarf poisoned – they were supposed to seek blessing from me, and my hand touch.”

The Tibetan Buddhist leader shared that the threat against his life, and Chinese involvement with the situation, may lead to him being the last Dalai Lama. He believes that Tibet may do away with the institution completely.

He also mentioned, according to The Telegraph, that Chinese leaders should use Buddhist logic, in order to overcome suspicion and anger. He confessed, however, that even he struggles to control his temper. The Dalai Lama stated:

“Advisers, secretaries, other people around me, when they make some little, little mistake, then sometimes I burst. Oh yes! Anger and shout! Oh! And some harsh words. But that remains a few minutes, then finished.”

The article detailing the alleged murder plot is set to be published on Sunday. During the interview, the Buddhist leader informed that paper that he resides with in a high security cordon Dharamsala, the temple palace grounds in the Himalayan foothills.

Relations between China and the Tibetan government-in-exile have always been poor, and filled with high suspicion on both sides. The Dalai Lama is set to appear in Britain on Sunday in order to receive a £1.1 million Templeton Prize for his support of science as a vital element of religious life. The ceremony will take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
