Dean McDermott Served For Failure To Pay Child Support, Accused Of Being A ‘Deadbeat Dad’

Dean McDermott has been served for failure to pay child support, and could very well face jail time if he does not pay the balance in full.

McDermott, who is currently married to Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling, reportedly owes $8,700 in back child support to his ex-wife, Mary Jo Eustace, for their 16-year-old son, Jack.

According to court documents, released by In Touch Weekly, Mary Jo Eustace is demanding her ex-husband pay five months of child support. She signed the papers on July 31, and McDermott was officially served the papers on August 3. The papers state that Dean has 30 days to pay the $8,700, or he could be looking at time spent in jail.

“He’s a deadbeat dad,” a source told the magazine of the actor, who has four other children — Liam, Stella, Hattie and Finn — with Spelling. “He never thought he’d be served.”

“He could lose his driver’s license or even wind up in jail,” the source added.

As the Examiner points out, things for McDermott could be worse. He and Eustace were in the process of adopting a little girl when he started his affair with Spelling. Eustace ultimately went through with the adoption without McDermott, making him only financially responsible for Jack.

Mary Jo split from the actor in 2005 after he started seeing Tori, who he met on the set of the Lifetime TV movie Mind Over Murder. Last year, Eustace spoke about McDermott, saying that she wished him only the best, and was mainly concerned about the well-being of their son.

“I wish Dean only the best in his struggle to overcome the demons he has been wrestling with for many years, so he can become the father and the man I know he wants to be,” she said during an interview with People Magazine in January, 2014. “My main concern at this point is the well-being and health of the son we share.”
