Mini ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Re-Done With Go-Karts — Fan Film Goes Viral [Video]

The reboot of Mad Max was a massive success at the box office and with film critics, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. Now it seems Mad Max has been remade once again, but with an adorable twist. A group of fans made a tribute to Mad Max: Fury Road using go-karts and paintball guns, and it’s so good that Warner Brothers is using it to promote the upcoming Mad Max video game.

The AV Club reported on the hilarious but impressive short film, made by YouTube user davidsupertramp, whose real name is David Graham. The short movie is titled “Mad Max GoKart Paintball War – 4K!” and you can see it in the video above.

Graham pulled out all the stops when it came to costumes and go-kart design, mirroring the gritty art style of the Mad Max films perfectly. Andy Sims and Seth Jones worked together to create the tiny-but-tough vehicles. Despite being scaled down to go-kart size, many of the stunts are impressive as well, including actors jumping from car to car and even flying off of moving platforms. The final product is a hilarious mashup of classic Mad Max ideas portrayed in an intentionally serious style to emphasize the absurdity.

According to Car and Driver, Warner Brothers provided some money to David Graham and his crew to produce the cute remake of the Mad Max: Fury Road chase scene along with the help of Dakota Walbeck and Nick Sales. To shoot the fan film, Graham used something called a “Red Dragon” camera, which reportedly captures nine times as many pixels as standard HD video.

The video was filmed in Green River, Utah, at a set that was made to look like the famous Mad Max wasteland, although this one was more mud and dirt than desert sand. And the cinematography is on par with the Hollywood hit Mad Max: Fury Road.

Sequels for the official film have already been announced, and it’s possible that the go-kart version will see follow-ups as well. Max gets away at the end of the video, and David Graham placed an annotation on the YouTube video claiming he would love to make more tiny tributes to the franchise if the video gets enough likes and shares. Currently, the video has almost a million views and is quickly climbing. So if you want more Mario Kart-style Mad Max, share the video above!
