‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Cristina & Owen Reunion, Will She Return In Season 12?

Grey’s Anatomy fans totally freaked out when actress Sandra Oh tweeted a photo of herself and her former co-star, Kevin McKidd, creating a Cristina Yang and Owen Hunt reunion, something fans have wanted to see since the day Cristina left Seattle.

According to E! Online, Sandra Oh and Kevin McKidd got together to celebrate Kevin’s (belated) birthday, as they are still so obviously great friends after playing fan-favorite couple Cristina and Owen on Grey’s Anatomy for years.

Viewers were heartbroken when Sandra decided to leave the show after Season 10, because she was such a huge part of the story line from the beginning. Not only was Cristina the most talented and driven of her surgical friends, but she was also Meredith Grey’s bestie. It was Meredith and Cristina’s relationship that set friendship goals for female fans across the country.

In Season 11, Meredith was forced to face a life without her husband, Dr. Derek Shepherd, without her best friend by her side. After Derek’s death, fans were disappointed that Cristina didn’t return for the funeral, or an episode to be there for Mer.

However, Season 12 rumors have been running wild that perhaps we may finally get another glimpse of Dr. Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy.

The International Business Times reports that Sandra Oh has talked about returning to the show again before its run is over, but never gave a clear answer.

“We talked about that when I told her I was going to leave but we haven’t talked about it again. There are certain things that Shonda and I talk about once and then we leave it because we want things to happen without pressure. I told her, ‘If you guys want to finish it out however you want to finish it out, I’d be more than happy to come back. And if it doesn’t fit in that way, I totally understand. I just want you to know that I’m available.’ Who knows! I might be doing something fabulous and it might not work out but I did say, ‘Yes, of course I would.’ “

While it is possible that Cristina may be returning to Grey’s Anatomy in the future, one character who will seemingly never return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is Izzie Stevens. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, show creator Shonda Rhimes revealed that she doesn’t think she’ll ever revisit that character again.
