Sophia Loren Shares About Her Love For Kate Middleton, Gives A Glimpse Into Her Years As A Teen
Sophia Loren is a woman who will forever be remembered for her incredible contributions to film, as well as for her striking beauty and impeccable sense of style. The Academy Award-winning actress, as the Wall Street Journal notes, was also “casually objectified by some of the world’s most famous men in a manner that would be unacceptable today” and certainly would not go over very well with the royal subject whom Loren confessed to the publication is her favorite princess of all: Kate Middleton.
Examples Loren shared involving remarks from some of those infamous men mentioned, include one liners from Noël Coward.
“[Sophia should be]sculpted in chocolate truffles so the world could devour her.”
Additionally, one of the world’s most praised actors within movies revolving around gentlemanly behavior and romance, Clark Gable, found Loren to be just as tempting.
“This girl makes you think all the wrong thoughts.”
During a candid Q&A with the Journal, the 80-year-old who confesses she is her own favorite makeup artist and was too focused on acting to consider any of the many fashion campaigns she has been offered over the years, also shared her opinion about her favorite royals.
“My favorite princess is Kate [the Duchess of Cambridge]. I love her and the husband too. They are a very nice couple, very simple. And the children are adorable.”
It is evident that often Kate and Prince William are made the target much too regularly of paparazzi, seeing as the two recently released a statement which asked for their privacy and that of their children, be respected. The Daily Mail relayed the statement last week. The manner in which the couple politely, yet sternly, relayed this wish, highlights that the two are as “nice” and “lovely” as Loren shared.
Although the life of Sophia Loren, from the public view, seems to be similar to the life of the Duchess and her Prince — like a real life fairy tale, the striking beauty shares that the times were much different when she got her start in acting and that happiness which adored Kate and Will share in reality was merely portrayed in films. However, this was not the way the world was at all.
“The times were very sad then because of the war. We were surrounded by so many sad and negative things that the stories had to end happily. When I first went to Rome, I had great success with these fumetti picture stories. They were love stories. Typically, there is a couple who doesn’t get along. She has a lover. She has a terrible time and she cries. But at the end everything is all right and they are going to be happy. In that period it had to be like this.”
As a teen, Loren admits that she was quite poor and was more concerned with what her next meal would be as opposed to what makeup she would use. Due to little to eat, the star had the nickname “toothpick.” Loren’s admiration for royals Prince William and Kate Middleton is clearly more about their kindness and personable manner of interacting with those who are less fortunate, the way she once was.
