ANA ‘Star Wars’ Airplanes Soar High In Time For ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

The ANA Star Wars airplanes have been officially announced. ANA, also known as All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd., is Japan’s largest airline, and in line with the release of Star Wars 7 in December, the ANA Star Wars-themed airplanes were launched.

According to Comicbook, the fleet of ANA Star Wars airplanes were done in partnership with The Walt Disney Company in Japan. The announcement of two additional Star Wars planes makes three, as the first plane, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with an R2-D2 theme, was previously announced.

The other two additions to the Star Wars fleet include the Boeing 777-300ER with a BB-8 theme and the Boeing 767-300 with the Star Wars ANA Jet with an R2-D2 and BB-8 theme.

The ANA Star Wars planes are set to soar the skies this fall. Reports say that the first flight will be on October 18, flying between Vancouver and Tokyo. Other travel routes include San Jose, Seattle, Brussels, Paris, Munich, Sydney, Beijing, and Jakarta.

The Boeing 767, however, will make its initial flight in March next year between Japan and North America.

Aside from the cool Star Wars theme, what else can be expected from these ANA planes? As CNN reports, all of the vessels will enjoy Star Wars cups, paper napkins, and headrest covers. And if passengers haven’t had enough of Star Wars, the planes’ in-flight entertainment features all six Star Wars movies. There’s no report yet if Star Wars 7 will be included in the future. Since ANA has signed a five-year promotion with Disney Japan, this means that ANA will be the first and only airline in the world to offer the Star Wars films as in-flight entertainment.

In addition, Star Wars fanatics can also grab merchandise from the ANA Mileage Mall including shoes, shirts, toys, notebooks, pens, and other Star Wars-related products. An online catalog is available on the ANA Star Wars website.

Osamu Shinobe, CEO and President of ANA, released a statement of the unveiling of the new ANA Star Wars aircrafts.

“We’re thrilled to unveil the designs of our new Star Wars themed planes, and I’m sure fans across the world will love the look. At ANA we pride ourselves on offering the best possible flight experience, from the ANA Star Wars Project and our extensive in-flight entertainment options, to our peerless, award-winning in-flight service, dining options created by Michelin-starred chefs and wines chosen by our discerning sommeliers. We look forward to providing our passengers with an engaging in-flight experience as they travel our planet.”

Of course, there’s no shortage of Star Wars products with The Force Awakens‘ premiere looming. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, CoverGirl has released a makeup line with the Star Wars theme.

Will you be coming aboard these Star Wars airplanes? Just don’t expect them to take you to a galaxy far, far away.
