Calvin Harris: The DJ’s Famous Twitter Feuds

Calvin Harris found himself in a Twitter feud with Zayn Malik on Monday, August 17. The former disc jockey didn’t like it when the former One Direction singer slammed his girlfriend Taylor Swift for her greedy business tactics.

Calvin Harris rushed to Taylor Swift’s defense on Twitter on Monday afternoon when Zayn Malik shared a photo that compared Swift to fellow pop star Miley Cyrus. The Twitter account @FemaleTexts included screen shots of interviews in which Swift explains why she pulled her music catalog from Spotify and Cyrus’ laid-back views on making music and selling albums.

The tweet also included a photo of Miley and Taylor with the following: “The difference is astounding.” Zayn appeared to agree with the tweet so he shared it on his own Twitter profile.

Calvin Harris was obviously ticked off by Malik’s tweet, as previously reported via the Inquisitr. Harris claims that Swift’s business decision wasn’t just for her own benefit, but for the benefit of other artists who struggling to make it on a daily basis.

Calvin went after Zayn in a series of profanity-laced tweets, documented by the report. After Zayn accused the Scottish artist for wearing “false teeth,” the hit maker changed his ways and complimented the former 1D singer’s voice. You could say that Calvin decided to “Shake It Off” and move on. Maybe Calvin is finally growing up and learning from his past Twitter feuds.

That’s right. The 31-year-old old “How Deep Is Your Love” producer is no stranger when it comes to feuding with other pop stars on Twitter. Much like his 25-year-old girlfriend, the DJ has a long list of feuds with other pop artists. It could be one of the reasons why Harris and Swift get along so well.

Back in 2011, Calvin Harris already had bad blood with Katy Perry long before Taylor Swift received credit for the phrase. He was supposed to be an opening act for the pop star’s Teenage Dream Tour. Instead, Harris cancelled last minute because he didn’t agree with the concert’s set arrangements. Instead of talking things over rationally with Perry, he decided to diss the pop princess on Twitter.

When Calvin finally became internationally famous in 2012, he went on a talk show and explained that Lady Gaga sent him samples before she made it big. He claims that the successful singer wanted to collaborate with him, but Calvin said he was too busy and had “better things to do” with his time.

Lady Gaga took to Twitter to claim that she never even emailed him in the first place. She even called out Harris and other EDM producers for their misogyny.

Calvin famously dated British pop tart Rita Ora before dating Taylor. After their split, he banned Rita from performing some of the songs they made together. Calvin wrote and produced Rita’s single, and somehow prevented her from performing it at the Teen Choice Awards.

Instead of keeping mum about their relationship, he took to Twitter to hint about Ora’s unfaithfulness during their relationship. Swift better be ready with pen in hand if their relationship ever falls apart. However, it would be interesting to see the drama unfold between Harris and Swift. The singer-songwriter is known for writing songs about her exes, while Harris has become well-known for sabotaging his famous ex’s music career.

Harris even used Twitter to shade British diva Leona Lewis. He linked to an article and explained why he chose Rihanna for the hit song “We Found Love.” In his tweet, Calvin says he believes RiRi’s version was simply better and that the X Factor winner would have made the song boring. Ouch!

Calvin Harris may be a successful producer and DJ. But it seems like his tweets get him in trouble at times. Like his good-girl girlfriend, Harris may find himself making more enemies than friends in the music industry if he’s not careful.
