Conan O’Brien To Visit David Letterman on ‘The Late Show’

Conan O’Brien has announced on Thursday that he will appear on “The Late Show With David Letterman” next week.

The two late-night hosts, who both share the fact that they both lost the “Tonight” show to competitor Jay Leno, will meet for their first public conversation in 13 years..

Letterman’s show announced that O’Brien will be the main guest on the “Late Show” on Thursday May 17th.

The appearance will mark Conan’s fifth time appearing on the late-night tv show, with his last time occurring on January 3, 1999, when he and Letterman spoke, with Letterman prodding Conan to show a clip that he brought with him. The clip turned out to be the trailer for upcoming movie ”

The two have a unique bond, as they are both former hosts of NBC’s “Late Night” show, and have both experienced fairly public fueds with Jay Leno.

Letterman’s feud with Leno began in 1992, when he was passed over for “The Tonight Show” spot after Johnny Carson left (Leno got the position).

Conan O’Brien is the most recent jilted late-night host regarding Jay Leno, who was hired to take Conan’s spot after NBC ousted him from “The Tonight Show” after only seven months.

Both are expected to speak about their feuds with their competitor, much like they did on the night of O’Brien’s TBS late-night show premiere (and numerous times since).

Both of the late show hosts have been generous toward each other, and David Letterman has praised O’Brien many times throughout his career. He even took Conan O’Brien’s side in the confrontation that took place between the host and NBC in 2010.
