80-Year-Old Constance Tillit Uses CrossFit To Cope With Husband’s Death [Video]

An 80-year-old woman is using CrossFit — one of the hottest trends in fitness — to cope with becoming a widow. Constance Tillit lost her beloved husband recently, but she is not letting that stop her from being an inspiration.

Losing a partner who has been with us for decades is never easy, and when 80-year-old Constance Tillit was put in that place, she decided to do something unconventional. People her age are not normally known to take on excruciating training routines, but Tillit is not your usual senior.

The feisty 80-year-old is not letting her heartbreak take over her life and is continuing with CrossFit, which is one of the hardest workouts there is. Not only that, she has two hip replacements, two knee replacements, and two rotator cuff replacements.

According to CrossFit.com, the difficult discipline begins with a belief in fitness.

“CrossFit is many things. Primarily, it’s a fitness regimen developed by Coach Greg Glassman over several decades. He was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way (increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains). CrossFit itself is that which optimizes fitness (constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity).”

One of the coolest things about CrossFit is that it’s also a community of people who share the same passion for fitness. The gyms are small and people workout together, it puts you on the spot, so most don’t slack off and use the close quarters to motivate each other.

In a video posted to Facebook by Now This — which has gone viral with more than 3.6 million views — 80-year-old Constance Tillit shows incredible determination in the face of unimaginable grief. Constance not only lifts like you wouldn’t believe it, but she also has some sound advice for fellow CrossFitters and anyone that needs a little inspiration to get moving.

“Get up and do it,” Constance says wisely. “Stop with the whining, stop with the ‘Oh, you have to take care of me.’ Take care of yourself.”

The 80-year-old invokes the memory of the love of her life when things get tough with the training — and it is tough — just ask anyone who does CrossFit.

“He is with me right now,” the 80-year-old says in the video. “He was my nurse, my doctor, my friend, my everything. He was my encouragement. He still is my encouragement.”

Inspiring words indeed, and if the next time you think about whining because you are sore or too lazy to workout, think about 80-year-old Constance Tillit and her incredible will. Watch the amazing video below.
